WEB TENSION MEASUREMENT & CONTROL The Web Tension Products Division manufactures a full line of CMC Tensi-Master and Cleveland-Kidder Controllers and Transducers (load cells) for measuring, monitoring and controlling tension in moving webs.
CMC Cleveland-Kidder Cartridge-Style Tension Transducers (load cells) are electro-mechanical force transducers that provide a highly responsive linear output signal for measuring, monitoring and controlling web tension in continuous processes. They utilize semi-conductor strain gages and a temperature compensation network for consistent accuracy and performance. For application flexibility and convenient machine installation, cartridge style transducers are available for stationary shafts, for wire or narrow webs, and pillow block mounting kits.
Cantilevered Transducer Cantilevered Transducer CLT has a cylindrical shape and is designed to support a standard idler roller. Flexibility of installation is accomplished by adding mounting harware to a basic model to complete the body type. Ten different load ratings withing two body size are available to provide sensing from 0.1 lb to 500 lb. Customers can select the roller of their choice, typically up to 20 inches long. With versatile transducer orientation, the Cantilevered transducer CLT easily accomodates tension forces applied in any direction.
CMC®® Tensi-Master®® CR Tension Transducers are cantilevered load cells for measurement and control of tension in applications such as printing, coating, cutting, plating, laminating, and embossing; and in the processing of wire, fiber and ribbons. They are designed for supporting a customer supplied pulley assembly and are available in eight different load ratings to provide tension over an extremely wide range. Tensi-Master CR Tension Transducers utilize a cantilevered "twin beam" design resulting in a high level linear output signal, high frequency response, and overall system stability.
UPB Washdown-Duty LC The CMC Cleveland-Kidder UPB Washdown-Duty LC measures and monitor precise tension on web process or wire machinery. With a completely sealed design (corrosion resisting and chemical resisting), this under-pillow-block style load cell is an ideal solution for demanding industrial environments, such as in the production of paper, steel, textiles, roofing shingles, linoleum, rubber, foil and food products. The UPB Washdown-Duty LC is designed for use with pillow block bearings and rotating shaft installations. It has a compact low-profile block design that can be mounted in any position and used for retrofit or for new machinery.

BONGSHIN BTA Pillow block load sensor designed for web tension measurement. Capacity 500 kg to 20,000 kg. Allow steel sealed IP67.
Cleveland-Kidder Slim Cell Transducer The CMC Cleveland-Kidder Slim Cell Transducer (load cell) measures and monitors precise tension on web process or wire machinery that utilizes either rotating shafts or dead shaft rollers. It is especially beneficial in load cell applications where space is tight, web tensions are typically low, and the environment is demanding. With a low profile design, the Slim Cell reduces the side-frame-to-side-frame width requirements of the machine. With a maintenance-free solid lubricant bearing at very low friction, it is ideal for low tension applications, extending usable tension ranges of web machinery by measuring both low and high tensions.
Tensi Master Tension indicator CMC Cleveland-Kidder Tensi-Master Tension indicators provide transducer excitation and tension readout on web process or wire machinery. When, combined with Cleveland-Kidder Tension Transducers (load cells), they provide an accurate web tension reading, helping to measure, monitor and control the continuous web process for consistent product quality. Tensi-Master tension indicators are available in an enclosed or open panel mounting. Both models are of rugged industrial construction.
Web Tension Controllers Web Tension controllers are used with tension transducers (load cells), to provide closed-loop tension regulation in continuous web or wire processes. They control the output to devices such as industrial drives, servo drives, brakes, or clutches. The operator sets the desired tension and the controller compares the actual line tension to the tension set point. If the two are not equal, the controller take action to correct the line tension by increasing or decreasing the output to the device.
